Davis & Elkins Faculty celebrates the humanities on campus and inside our neighborhood. This course explores the enterprise aspects of the music industry and its relationship to broadcasting and media. BCST 2214 seems to be at payment and royalty constructions generally found in the music industry. Students will analyze past patterns in common music to identify and predict enterprise practices in the media and music industries. The course additionally examines music as a tradition-trade and its historic influence on youth culture.

Baltimore’s three Arts & Leisure Districts are designated by a statewide Arts & Entertainment (A&E) District program administered by the Maryland State Arts Council , an company of the State of Mary land underneath the authority of the Department of Commerce. With designation, A&E Districts are eligible for three state tax-related incentives, and are eligible to apply for an Arts & Entertainment District Technical Assistance grant from the Maryland State Arts Council.

The Arts, Entertainment, and Recreation sector contains a variety of institutions that operate services or provide companies to meet diverse cultural, entertainment, and recreational pursuits of their patrons. This sector includes (1) establishments that are concerned in producing, promoting, or taking part in dwell performances, events, or displays meant for public viewing; (2) establishments that protect and exhibit objects and websites of historic, cultural, or academic interest; and (three) institutions that function services or present providers that enable patrons to take part in leisure activities or pursue amusement, pastime, and leisure-time pursuits.

This course presents a basic understanding of Canadian regulation as it relates to media, including the workings of the authorized and administrative programs. Students will find out about tort legislation (emphasizing defamation and privateness points), law of contracts, e-commerce, licensing agreements, employment, company, forms of enterprise group and mental property including copyrights, emblems, domain names, patents, and trade secrets.
